Most placement in Temporary Housing (shelters) is coordinated solely by the Westchester County Department of Social Services (DSS). Housing is arranged for families, singles and childless couples. There are also location single-sex shelters. You must visit the DSS office at 85 Court Street in White Plains to apply for a space in Temporary Housing. DSS also assists in identifying options for permanent housing.
