General legal resources and services

The organizations listed below provide lawyers that will explain your rights and represent you in court. The Legal Action Center (located in New York City) provides free services; most other agencies will provide a free or low cost consultation and then may work with you on a sliding scale as needed.  Go to Renentry.Net and LawHelpNY.org for substantial libraries of information on legal issues related to rights and opportunities for those with a criminal history.

Several Houses of Worship have come together to operate as a safe-haven for unrepresented persons who don’t have access to personal home computer equipment.  Find out more about the Faith-Based Access Court Access Program.
