Most placement in Temporary Housing – Shelters is coordinated by the Westchester County Department of Social Services (DSS). See this explanation of the Coordinated Entry System for an idea of how the process works. You must visit a DSS office to apply for shelter. Support for those in reentry is coordinated at the DSS office at 85 Court Street in White Plains. Locations to which you can apply for housing directly are listed below under Temporary Housing – Shelters.

Drop-in Centers are for single individuals seeking shelter from the heat or cold when they are open. Counselors may also be available to connect you to needed services.
